Polarity Therapy

Polarity Therapy, which works to restore the free flow of life force throughout the body, was developed by healthcare maverick Randolph Stone—chiropractor, osteopath, and ayurvedic physician. The Polarity practitioner asks questions, observes, and palpates the body to find places where this force, or energy, is absent, weak, or over-concentrated, and uses a variety of techniques to harmonize the system.

According to the principles of this therapy, the head and feet, and right and left sides of the body, have opposite bio-electric charges. The therapist makes use of this theory by strategically placing both hands on the client's body. For example, a more “positive” right hand is placed on the “negative” tailbone and the more “negative” left hand on the “positive” crown of the head. Leaving the hands in place, the therapist “listens” to the tissues under her hands and to the space between. When a weak or broken current is properly restored it feels to both client and therapist as if a deep “letting go” has occurred. In this example, the entire spine and skull soften and relax, and pleasant pulsing and tingling sensations are often present.

Polarity Therapy is particularly helpful for fatigue, headaches, fibromyalgia, nervous anxiety, depression, and medically-unexplained pain. Recipients get up from the table with feelings of deep peace and harmony—an ideal space for self-healing to occur.

If you have never tried polarity therapy, you can request that five to ten minutes of your time with the therapist be devoted to this work, or you can request a full one-hour session of polarity work. A polarity therapist is also trained in craniosacral therapy, nutritional guidance, chakra balancing, and therapeutic dialogue. Once an individual's unique issues emerge, sessions are tailored accordingly.
